McDonald’s, Denny’s coming to Pinedale?

by Stephen Crane

If the rumors are true, Pinedale may see a new restaurant franchise move into town in the not-so-distant future.

A few weeks back, a representative from McDonald’s made inquiries to the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce, seeking information on a number of preliminary hurdles that would need to be navigated for the restaurant.

“He just wanted to know who to contact about commercial property,” said Terrie Swift, executive director of the chamber. “He also had a couple of planning and zoning questions.”

The representative provided no timetable for any additional action.

It’s also been rumored that a new restaurant, possibly a Denny’s, may be trying to build in the lot located in front of the new Hampton Inn, on the west end of Pinedale.

“I’ve heard rumors,” said Wendy Row, the new general manager at the Hampton. “But nobody’s contacted me or my company, to my knowledge.”

The timing of these rumors coincides with a public workshop that the Pinedale Planning and Zoning Commission has planned to discuss a possible “Big Box Ordinance,” aimed at providing certain aesthetic standards to franchise, chain and corporate businesses that build in Pinedale.
