DEQ meeting here Monday

by Alecia Warren

Sublette County residents can seek answers about local air and water quality on April 21, when The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will host a public meeting at Rendezvous Pointe from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

“I think this is a good opportunity to talk to folks at the DEQ who are involved in regulating what is discharged into the air and water in our state, and ask whatever questions they want,” said Dave Finley, administrator of the Air Quality Division (AQD) of the DEQ.

Finley said the agency understands that many people are concerned about recent ozone alerts in the Upper Green River Basin, as well as anxious about correcting recent benzene contaminations in water wells on the Jonah and Anticline gas fields.

The DEQ decided to hold a public meeting after multiple residents and the Sublette County Commissioners requested it.
