JAMES MILLARD WELLS

James M. Wells of Carlsbad, CA, died on Friday, June 8th at the age of 89. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Crane.

He leaves his wife, Janet B. Wells of Carlsbad, CA, and her family, his daughters, Marcia Hoyt of Boise, ID, Jane Wells and Lois Levy both of Seattle, WA, Sara Wells of Park City, UT and seven grandchildren, Alex, Andi, Jimmy, Jessi, AJ, Courtney, and Katie.

During World War II, Jim served as a lieutenant in the Navy, stationed on the USS Petroff Bay. His tour of duty earned military recognitions including the air medal and Distinguished Flying Cross award. His career spanned 50 years and included management positions with Aluminum LTD, of Canada, before moving to Wyoming in 1966.

In Pinedale, Jim founded Rendezvous Travel, sold real estate, and established the dude ranch Seteton. He was president of the Chamber of Commerce, and involved with the VFW. Jim was active in the Green River Rendezvous, and for over 10 years played the chief medicine man, Jim retired to Pauma Valley, California where he served as president of the Pauma Valley Country Club. Active in the Episcopal Church, he also had a long-term philanthropic association with the Boy Scouts of America in San Diego.

A memorial service will be held in Pinedale, Wyoming, on August 18, 2007. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Boy Scouts of America or the Museum of the Mountain Man, Pinedale Wyoming.

MAURINE WATSON YOSE

Maurine Watson Yose, 85, passed away on Thursday June 7, 2007, in Bountiful, Utah.

Maurine was born June 29, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from East High School and worked as a secretary for a life insurance company. She married Walter Carlton Yose Jr., on May 29, 1941 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They then settled on the family cattle ranch on the Green River near Big Piney, Wyoming. Maurine was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as assistant financial and records clerk for 56 years, secretary of every organization and numerous other callings. She was an excellent homemaker, dedicated mother, hard worker, a wonderful cook and a kind lady. She also worked for Surveyor Scherbel, Ltd. as a secretary for 40 years.

She is survived by her husband, Walter, four children: Connie Yose, Carol Rees (Dee), Susan Hoffman (Steve) and Stephen Yose, (Karen), 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, one sister Kathryn Johnson and brother and sister-in-law, Grant and Louise Cullimore. Her parents, Henry B. and Ella Boud Watson, brothers Kenneth and Henry, sisters Elizabeth Yates and Helen Hart, and a grandson, Steven Hoffman preceded her in death.

PAUL ZEMBO JR.

Paul Zembo, Jr., 91, of Boulder, Wyoming passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Sage View Care Center, Rock Springs, Wyoming. A lifelong resident of Boulder, Wyoming Mr. Zembo died following a lengthy illness.

He was born on January 1, 1916 in Big Sandy, Wyoming, the son of the late Paul and Katherine “Katie” Benko Zembo, Sr. Mr. Zembo attended schools in Big Sandy, Wyoming.

He served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific until his separation on June 5, 1945. Mr. Zembo was self-employed as a rancher all of his adult life until 2004. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community.

Mr. Zembo was the oldest member of the Wyoming Cattlemen’s Association. Survivors include one brother John Zembo of Rock Springs, Wyoming; three sisters, Kathryn Kozola, Elsie Wilde and Margaret Gillespie , all of Rock Springs, Wyoming; three nephews Leo Kozola and wife Mary and Kenny Kozola and wife Pam, all of Casper, Wyoming, Charles Gillespie and wife Carol of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one niece Pat Thomas of Rock Springs, Wyoming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers, who died in infancy; one sister, Anna Radosevich and one brother George Zembo.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Vase Funeral Home, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Father Carl Beavers will conduct the services. Military Graveside Services and Interment will be in the St. Joseph’s Section of the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel on Tuesday, one hour prior to services.
