Obituaries


AUDREY ETOYLE HADLEY

Audrey Etoyle Hadley, 82, died early Sunday , January 14, 2007 at the Sage View Care Center where she had a patient for one day. She was born on April 6, 1924 in Delco, Idaho, the daughter of the late John and Berniece Abbott.

She attended schools in American Falls and Downey, Idaho and married her best friend Percy Hyrumn Hadley on September 10, 1940 in Preston, Idaho. Their sixty-seven years of marriage began with herding sheep and farming for the Allen Brothers in Swan Lake, Idaho. After several years they purchased their own farm in Smithville, Utah and in 1950 moved to Farson where they owned and operated a dairy and later a beef and sheep ranch. In 1974 they moved to Rock Springs and Audrey continued her history of hard work as the Assistant Manager of Norge Village Laundromat. Due to failing health, Percy and Audrey moved back to Farson to be closer to their children in 1998 and lived at their daughter’s ranch in Farson until her death this week.

Survivors include her husband Percy Hadley of Farson, Wyoming; three daughters Trina Beard of Frankston, Texas, Vicky Miller and husband Don , Karla Eaton and husband Toby and one son Dana Hadley and Patsy Long all of Farson, Wyoming; She lived to see fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents , one brother Jack Abbott, one daughter Joey Hadley, grandsons Vincent Scott Beard and Donald S. Miller, Jr. and one granddaughter Kathryn Beard.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the Farson L.D.S. Chapel in Farson, Wyoming. Interment will be in the Eden Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and on Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to services. Pallbearers: Dana Hadley, Kevin Beard, Shawn Miller, Brent Miller, Dustin Eaton, Lance Hodges. Honorary Pallbearers Lee Johnson, Don Miller, Toby Eaton, Scott Reed, Casey Foy, Bobby Cleaveland, Colton Miller and Ed Burton.

The Family of Audrey Etoyle Hadley respectfully suggests that donations in her memory be made to Donald S. Miller, Jr. Memorial Fund, c/o Rock Springs National Bank, P.O. Box 880, Rock Springs, WY 82902 or the Pronghorn Power Booster.


GEORGE WESLEY MATLOCK

Monday January 8th George Wesley Matlock was called home to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born to Luther Alvin Matlock and Barbara Ellen (Clay) Matlock July 4th 1945 in Skiatook, Oklahoma.

He started his schooling in Oklahoma. In 1957 during his early years his parents moved to Big Piney. George finished school there in 1964. He enlisted in The United States Marines in 1965 and received his honorable discharge in 1967. After his return to Big Piney he drove truck for numerous trucking companies. Due to health problems he retired about ten years ago. He was a great hunter-fisherman and loved the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his brother LeRoy (Linda) Matlock of Rock Springs, WY; two sisters Alene (Jim) Goines of Boynton, OK; and Alfreda (Jack) Jones of Three Forks, MT; lots of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He will be missed by everyone. We have always been a close family.

A graveside funeral service was held Friday morning January 12th at 11:00 a.m. in the Plainview Cemetery, Big Piney, WY Jim Goines conducted the service.


ADELLA MAE SMITH HUMMER

Adella Mae Smith Hummer, beloved wife of Robert O. Hummer, passed away Monday morning January 8, 2007 at St. John’s Hospital in Jackson, WY. She was 88 years old.

Adella was born September 15, 1918 in Little Bear, WY the daughter of George and Ethel Johns. She completed her schooling in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School.

She enjoyed her career as a certified medical records technician. She was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star, a member of the Kendal Valley Girls, the Bronxs Ladies and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also an active member of the Congregational Church.

Adella loved the outdoors she enjoyed hiking, picnics, hunting, and snow machining. One of her favorite places to be was at her cabin in the Upper Green. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ. What she loved most of all was her family. She loved it when her family could get together and spend time with one another.

She is survived by her husband; children John “Smitty” Smith of Cora, WY, James (Betty) Smith of Las Vegas, NV, daughter JoDell (Jack) Wilson of Green River, WY; step-children Jean Battaglia of Sandy, UT and Robert Hummer Jr. of Pinedale, WY; sister Barbara (Dr. Robert) Carlton of Colorado Springs, CO; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband John Alfred Smith, daughter Bonnie Jean Simpson, and stepdaughter Joan Vestal.

A memorial funeral service will be held Tuesday January 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Covill Funeral Home in Pinedale, Wyoming. A reception will follow the service at the Sublette Center in Pinedale. In lieu of flowers donations in Adellas name can be made to the Sublette Retirement Center P.O. Box 788, Pinedale, WY 82941.
