GENE WICKWIRE

Gene Wickwire, 64, resident of Big Piney, Wyo., passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in Big Piney on Thursday morning, April 10, of natural causes. He was born Feb. 21, 1944, in Lawton, Okla., to Floyd and Peggy Wickwire. He grew up in Lawton and received his formal schooling there. After he graduated high school in 1962, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed and served in Colorado Springs, Colo. He married his sweetheart, Karen Kundert, on Nov. 1, 1969, in Gillette, Wyo., and they then returned to make their home in Marbleton, Wyo.

Gene enjoyed working with his hands; he was always busy fixing things and working on different projects. He loved coin collecting and searching for items with his metal detector. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. His death was a great shock and he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, and brothers, Charles and David Wickwire. He is preceded in death by his parents. A graveside funeral service was held Monday, April 14, at 11 a.m. at the Plainview Cemetery in Big Piney.

Pastor Larry Mizell conducted the services. Military Honors were performed by the American Legion, Dee Fox Post #78 of Big Piney/Marbleton.
