by Derek Farr Cimarex Riley Ridge, Madison Gas Development Project Manager Scott Stinson presents outlines of his company’s proposed project Monday at the Marbleton Town Hall. Stinson’s presentation was part of a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) open house designed to “see if there are any issues we have overlooked,” Pinedale Associate Field Manger Bill Lanning said. About 25 people were present to discuss the project that would build a new methane and helium recovery facility near Riley Ridge, west of Big Piney. The project will be built south of the Historic Lander Cutoff Trail, but according to Stinson, “You should not be able to see us, hear us or smell us” from the trail. When completed the project will provide natural gas and helium to Cimarex customers while it pumps 3 million tons of methane and carbon dioxide back into the Madison Formation for storage.
