Happy Hunting

While stopped at Daniel Junction for a fresh cup of coffee, Fred Licking of Daniel proudly shows off the six-point elk bull he bagged in his favorite hunting spot Tuesday. Rifle season throughout the county was opened by Oct. 1 in almost every area for all big-game species, including elk, deer, moose and antelope. Several remaining areas around Daniel and Big Piney will open to rifle hunting Oct. 15. Des Brunette of the Pinedale Game & Fish said Wednesday that while some hunters complain they aren’t seeing hide nor hair of their quarry, plenty of other hunters are bringing out nice deer and some really nice elk.
