Class II road committee appointed

by Cat Urbigkit

On Tuesday, Sublette County Commissioners appointed a three-member Class II road advisory committee. Crystal Blair of Big Piney was appointed to a three-year term; Rick Johnson of Daniel was appointed to a two-year term; and Bob McCarty of the Barger Subdivision area between Pinedale and Boulder was appointed to a one-year term.

The commission had seven applicants and insisted in going into executive session to discuss the applicants, claiming it was a “personnel issue,” despite the Examiner’s complaint that the appointments were not “personnel” since these people are volunteers, not employees.

The commission discussed the applicants behind closed doors, then returned to open session to cast unanimous vote for their slate of Blair, Johnson and McCarty.

In other business, the county received two bids on its road grader. With a reserve of $84,000, both bids came in higher, but the winning bid was Willard Binning’s $86,505.

The commission discussed plans for the Sand Draw Rescue Center. Builder Tony Chambers of Chambers Design Build reported that although he had estimated the cost for the building at about $750,000, the bid came in at about $960,000, which is $195 per square foot (without design fees).
