Barger’s 30 mph to be enforced

by Cat Urbigkit

Sublette County Commissioners adopted a resolution Tuesday designating the official speed limit on Meadowlark and Iroquois lanes in Barger subdivision at 30 miles per hour.

With signs posted and the resolution adopted, the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office can now start writing tickets to speeders on those roadways.

“It is now a done deal,” Commission chair Betty Fear said. “That is now the speed limit there.”

The commission and a group of citizens also discussed moving forward with a transportation plan and study.

The commission agreed to purchase the property the Discovery Center is located on and lease the property to the center for a nominal fee, suggesting perhaps $1 per year.

The county is purchasing the property, which is just under an acre, for $70,000. The commission was complimentary of the Chidsey family for their willingness to sell the property for the Discovery Center for such a reasonable amount.

The commission approved the final plat for the Duck Creek Subdivision to subdivide 66 acres into 11 lots. The issue goes before the Pinedale Town Council on Dec. 11.

Bernard Andres introduced himself to the commission. He’s a land developer who has entered into an agreement with the PDM Group for 200 acres of property located in the Pole Creek Road area for a high-density development. Andres gave a brief presentation to the commission, noting that without water and sewer, rezoning and traffic addressed, this project won’t go forward. No formal application for the development has been submitted.
