More candidates file
With the Friday deadline looming for the closure of the filing period for local political candidates, more candidate filings have been trickling into the Sublette County Clerk’s office. Most local county offices are up for election.
Breaking the mold of having no Democrats file for any political seat, Pinedale’s Bob McCarty filed for county commissioner. There are two commission seats on the ballot this time; those seats are currently held by Bill Cramer and Betty Fear, both Republicans. Cramer has filed for re-election, and three new candidates have declared as well: Stan Zierlein of Pinedale, and Joel Bousman and Suzy Michnevich of Boulder.
Incumbent Republicans Sublette County Clerk Mary Lankford, Clerk of Court Marilyn Jensen, Assessor Janet Montgomery, Treasurer Roxanna Jensen and Coroner Don Schooley have all filed seeking re-election and had no competition for the seats as of press time.
Incumbent Republicans Ralph Boynton, who serves as county attorney, and Sheriff Bardy Bardin have also filed to continue in their current positions. Both men were appointed by county commissioners, so this will be their first election. Neither face any opposition at this time.
There are three seats on the county Sublette County Rural Health Care District Board that will appear on the Aug. 22 ballot. These are non-partisan positions, so the August election will decide the issue. The three seats are currently held by Mary Lynn Worl, Bill Barney and Jerry Jensen. By Wednesday morning, Jensen had filed for re-election, with challengers including Jud Faler of Pinedale, Bill Budd, Jennifer Rees and Jim Carbley of Big Piney.
June 2 is the cut-off date for local candidates to file to appear on the primary election ballot.
