Memorial Day to be covered

by Bill Boender

Concerns regarding emergency medical service at the Marbleton Clinic over the Memorial Day weekend have been addressed and resolved, according to Randy Johnson, director for the Health Care Board.

Signs had been posted in the clinic windows Monday advising that there would be no coverage and all emergency cases would have to travel to Pinedale for care. These signs were removed by Wednesday morning although no arrangements had been confirmed for coverage.

In a Wednesday morning interview, Dr. David Burnett expressed concern that he or his staff might be blamed for the placing of those signs. Burnett advised that neither he nor his staff have access to the clinic since locks were changed and that neither he nor Dr. Darcy Turner had been contacted regarding a contract extension or a new contract for coverage after the May 27 expiration date of the existing contract.

By mid-morning Wednesday, an agreement was in place with Dr. Turner for an extension of the current arrangement through May 30 so that emergency services will be available for the weekend in Marbleton.
