Leora “Lynn” Sprout

Long-time Fremont County resident Leora “Lynn” Sprout passed away Saturday, March 18, at the age of 65. Lynn was joyfully committed to the beautification of her community as she ran Sprout’s Greenhouse out of Lander with her family. She appreciated the simple things in life, the beauty of nature and the Lord’s creation, and was very dedicated to her family.

Lynn was born in Riverton on June 12, 1940, to George “Cot” and Leetha Griffin. The oldest of seven siblings, she grew up on a ranch outside of Riverton.

She graduated from Riverton High School in 1958. In 1962, Lynn graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelor’s degree in home economics education. In 1964 she received a master’s degree in dietetics from the University of Michigan.

Lynn married Charles Ford Sprout on Aug. 31, 1968, in Lander. Together they raised three children and countless plants and trees.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Charles; son Forrest “Frostie” Sprout and his wife, Kim Parker, of Cheyenne; daughter Treva Sprout of Laramie; and son Griff Sprout and his fiancé, Joni Renbarger, of Lander.

Surviving siblings include Mary Gradert of Riverton; Evelyn King of Loveland, Colo.; Georgia Barbour of Gillette; Susan Bousman of Boulder; Alice Norris of Omaha, Neb.; and Charles Griffin of Riverton. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Riverton. Interment will follow at the Riverton Cemetery. Arrangements have been made through Davis Funeral Home in Riverton.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Lander Chamber of Commerce for the Lander Beautification Project or the Riverton City Hall for Riverton beautification.
