Obituaries

Kathleen Marie Kostelc

Our Lord called Kathleen Kostelc home on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, after a three-year struggle with cancer. She died peacefully at home with her husband, mother and four daughters. The Funeral Mass was held at ur Lady of Peace Catholic Church on Thursday, April 21, with the Most Reverend David L. Ricken, Bishop of Cheyenne, officiating. Interment was at the Pinedale Cemetery.

Kathleen was born on Oct. 4, 1955, in Cheyenne, the daughter of Don and Louise Shenefelt. She lived in Cheyenne until she attended colleges in Kansas and Colorado. Kathleen received two degrees in social work and returned to Cheyenne to work for the Family Services Department of the State of Wyoming. She transferred to Pinedale in 1986 and worked as the social worker.

She married Daniel R. Kostelc on May 20, 1989. From 1992 through 1998, Kathleen was the social worker at the Sublette Center. She retired in 1998 to raise and home school her youngest daughter, Christina.

Kathleen attended the wedding of her oldest daughter, Theresa, to Mark W. Travis of Laramie, on Dec. 31, 2004. Kathleen was very active at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, reading, and doing crafts.

Kathleen is survived by her mom, Louise Shenefelt; her husband, Dan Kostelc; and four daughters: Theresa, 25, Mary, 23, Gina, 20, and Christina, 7. Kathleen has four brothers and their families: Donald of Pinedale, Ronald of Amarillo, Texas, Michael of Cheyenne, and John of Daniel.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald D. Shenefelt Jr., and her grandparents.
