Obituaries

Leonard Soderberg

Leonard Soderberg, 48, died at home suddenly on Dec. 7, 2005. He was born Feb. 8, 1957, in Fort Collins, Colo., to Harry and Zella Soderberg.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; son, Tyler of Pinedale; daughter, Jessie Friend of Mason, Texas; mother, Zella Soderberg of Encampment; his sister, Bonnie Wolaver of Loveland, Colo.; and two brothers: Dale Soderberg and Keith Soderberg of Encampment. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Soderberg.

Leonard enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and spending time with his family. He was a hard worker and a very loving dad. Leonard was friends with everyone he met. Heis loved by many and he will be missed greatly.


Hubert Hays

Hubert Halton Hays Jr., 73, passed away from cancer at St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash., on Nov. 28, 2005.

A celebration of life will be held at the Governor Hotel in Portland, Ore., on Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Regional Cancer Center; the Herring House; or American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Grants in Aid Scholarship Program through Professional Funeral Director and Crematory, 2112 S. 2nd, Walla Walla, Wash.

Mr. Hays was born on Sept. 3, 1932, in Roff, Okla., to Hubert Halton Sr. and Janetta Bell Eldred Hays. After serving in the U.S. Army, he graduated from Sul Ross University in Texas with a bachelor of science degree in geology and went on to pursue a distinguished national and international career in the petroleum exploration industry. At various times, he lived and worked in Texas, Oklahoma, California, Alaska, Scotland, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, China, Venezuela and Oregon.

He is survived by his wife, Cat Hays, sons Paul and Clark Hays, step son Miles Binger, step daughter Nancy Binger, and granddaughters Stephanie and Kimberly. He is also survived by five sisters: Vera Brannon, Jean Goodman, Peggy Holcomb, Treva O'Neil and Erma Tiger, and by his ex-wife, Mare Hays.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jo McAdams; and many aunts and uncles.


Lena Perkins Wright

Lena Wright, 91, of Pinedale died on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at the Sublette Center in Pinedale. She passed quietly in her sleep. Lena was a resident of Pinedale for seven years and a former resident of Casper.

As a child Lena attended schools in Casper. She married William H. Perkins, her high school sweetheart, in Los Angeles County, Calif., on Jan. 19, 1935. She lived in California until his death on Dec. 17, 1944. They had one son, Edward H. Perkins.

After her husband's death, she moved back to Casper to be near her family.

She married her high school friend Francis E. Wright on Dec.28, 1945. He had two children from a previous marriage: Deline Riggins and Edward Wright Jr. Her second husband, Eddie Wright, preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1994.

She worked as a dispatcher for the City Cab Company in Casper for 30 years.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Mary Pat Perkins of Pinedale; step daughter, Deline Riggins, and husband, Robert, of Martinez, Calif; six grandchildren: William (Bill) Perkins and wife, Cathy, of Rock Springs; Angela Perkins Somerville of North Salt Lake City, Utah; Jeffrey K. Perkins of Beaverton, Ore.; Cynthia and Ayesha Riggins of Martinez; and Kim Lawrence of Plano, Texas; two great-grandchildren: Melissa Perkins and Tyler Somerville; one sister, Margaret Sarvey of Douglas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son Edward H. Perkins; stepson Edward Wright Jr.; two brothers: Clayton and Clinton Wyatt; three sisters: Lola Kent, Vera O'Blenness and Veva Lookhart.

A memorial service will be held on Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. in the Heritage Room at the Sublette Center in Pinedale. She will be taken back home to Casper for burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity in her memory.
