Obituaries

William M. Westbrook

William M. Westbrook, 88, of Pinedale died on Thursday, Dec.1, 2005 at the Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs. A resident of Pinedale for eight years and former resident of Rock Springs, Mr. Westbrook died following a lengthy illness.

He was born on Nov. 4, 1917, in Walsenburg, Colo., the son of the late John T. and Dorothy Proud Westbrook.

Mr. Westbrook attended schools in Walsenburg.

He married the former Josephine Tomich in Rock Springs in December of 1949 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2000, in Pinedale.

Mr. Westbrook worked as a coal miner for 37 years and was employed with the Monsanto Company until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and the Methodist Church. His interests include fishing, camping and hunting.

Survivors include three sons: Ed Westbrook and wife Lenora of Olympia, Wash., Joseph Koritnik and wife Mary, and Louis Koritnik, all of Cheyenne; two daughters: Mary Washam and husband Jim of Pinedale and Judy Abramand husband David of Rock Springs; one sister, Dorothy Matteo of Pasadena, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Josephine; one son, Steve Koritnik; and three brothers: Raymond, Walter and John.

Funeral Services were held at Monday, Dec. 5, at Vase Funeral Home in Rock Springs.

In lieu of flowers, the family of William Westbrook request that donations in his memory be made to the American Lung Association, 415 Pershing Blvd., Cheyenne, Wyo., 82001, or Primary Children's Medical Center,100 North Medical Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84113.
