White Pine gets liquor license

by Cat Urbigkit

Sublette County Commissioners held a public hearing to consider the application for a full retail liquor license for White Pine Resort and Ski Area.

Since he works at the resort in the winter, Commissioner John Linn recused himself from the discussion and left the room.

White Pine's Stuart Thompson said the master plan for the resort development calls for a bar, as is common place at ski resorts. The resort now accommodates 36 beds and that many more will be constructed in the next year as well, Thompson said.

Commissioner Bill Cramer said that in his view, liquor licenses should be used, not acquired to sit on and make a profit for the sale of a business.

Liquor licenses are up for renewal annually. White Pine currently holds a restaurant liquor license.

Cramer and Commission Chair Betty Fear voted to approve the full retail license. County Clerk Mary Lankford said she'll soon issue the permit, so White Pine will have it in hand.
