Obituaries

G.W. Fletcher

Gil W. Fletcher was born in Rock Springs on Nov. 10, 1938, and passed away in Pinedale on Aug. 24.

He married Gaye Dimond in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 10, 1961. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Vernal Temple on June 5, 2004. G.W. attended high school in Rock Springs and college at Carbon College in Price, Utah. He was very active in athletics and was a high school All-American Athlete in football, basketball, baseball and track.

Fletcher served on the Rock Springs Police Department before serving as a Wyoming Highway Patrolman for 17 years. G.W. was also a brand inspector and worked several years at Hudson's Funeral Home in Pinedale.

G.W. enjoyed working with wood. Many wonderful rocking horses were created in his shop. He spent several years making visits as Santa Claus.

After battling several illnesses and injuries, he lost his battle to lung cancer. G.W. is survived by his wife Gaye; daughter Jean and Steve Johnson, grandsons Jacob and Eli; son Robb and Kimberly Fletcher; son Ken and Laurie Fletcher, granddaughters Mikala and Trista; grandsons Warren and Todd; daughter Holli and Bruce Redmond, grandsons Dustin, Cody, Zayne and Cole. He is also survived by two sisters: Kathy and Margie, and one brother, Robert.

Funeral services were held in Pinedale at the L.D.S. Church Saturday, Aug. 27. Interment followed the service in the Pinedale Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Kickin' Cancer in Sublette County, P.O. Box 383, Daniel, Wyo., 83115.
