$73 million budget approved

by Cat Urbigkit

On Tuesday afternoon, Sublette County Commissioners adopted a $73 million budget for the next fiscal year. That total includes taxing the full 12 mills, with taxation resulting in $35 million in new funds to the county coffers. These funds join the $34 million in cash on hand and anticipated revenue available at the end of the current budget year.

The county budget puts $30 million in depreciation reserves, which has nearly doubled from last year. The county also has $2.3 million in cash reserves and $2.7 million in an equipment reserve.

The single largest spending line item in the budget is for the county road department, with $17.3 million allocated.

The county's law enforcement budget totals $2.7 million, with an additional $1.5 million for the detention program and $389,185 for law enforcement communications.

The courthouse and maintenance budget totals $1.4 million, while the waste management budget totals $1.1 million.

In total, the county general accounts amount to $32 million.
