Robert W. Hansen

Robert (Bob) Wayne Hansen, 56, of Pinedale passed away Thursday, June 16, 2005, near Atlantic City. He was born in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., on Aug. 23, 1948, to John and Dorothy Hansen.

Bob was a resident of Pinedale for 18 years. As a young man he was a member of the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Special Forces Unit. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Pinedale Boat Club and organized the black powder rifle shooting competition for the annual Mountain Man Rendezvous in Pinedale. He also traveled to other rendezvous in Wyoming to compete in rifle competitions and trading. His given mountain man name was Lone Otter.

He held club championships at the Rendezvous Meadows Golf Course for many years. In his younger years he was also involved in the local softball organization. He worked at B&B Yamaha for several years and was always up for a snowmachine ride.

Bob retired in September of 2004 and started traveling and gold prospecting. He was a member of the Lost Dutchman Mining Association.

He is survived by his parents, John and Dorothy Hansen; brothers Ronald of Indialantic, Fla. and Raymond of Brimmaton, Wash.; sisters Patricia Fisher of Las Vegas, Nev. and Jeanette Hansen of Marbleton; nephews Steven and Christopher Hansen, Jason Wynn and Kevin and Daniel Yenser.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at Hudson's Funeral Home in Pinedale. Interment and military honors will follow in the Pinedale Cemetery.
