Wolf collared & released

by Cat Urbigkit

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reported this week that USDA Wildlife Services is continuing wolf control actions on BLM grazing allotments near the Prospect Mountains northeast of Farson where 14 sheep were killed by wolves in the last few weeks.

Last Wednesday, Wildlife Services personnel trapped, collared and released a lactating female wolf. A den with pups was also located about a mile from the sheep, FWS reported.

The federal wildlife agency wrote that it has requested Wildlife Services " to remove the entire pack." Although control personnel have been flying the area almost daily, FWS reported, "so far only found the female by herself."
