Sechrist resigns from tourism board

by Bill Boender

The Sublette County Joint Tourism Promotion Board held both a grant hearing and regular meeting Tuesday, March 15, at the Big Piney Library and heard four requests for funding.

Grants were approved for the Pinedale Half Marathon scheduled for Sept. 24, the Pinedale Sage and Snow Garden Club home and garden show on May 21, the Rocky Mountain Premium Pig and Lamb Sale on April 1 and 2 and the Hell Hole Archers 3-D Shoot on June 25 & 26. All grants were in the amount of $1,500 for advertising, except the 3-D Shoot, which only requested $750. A youth grant for $500 was given to the Pinedale FFA Chapter for its pig and lamb sale.

Moving into the regular meeting, Chairman John Godfrey reported that the proposal to reduce the board size from nine to five members was presented to the towns and county and will require resolutions from them to implement the change.

A visitor center design committee will be formed jointly with the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce to select and complete plans for the center to be constructed on property acquired by the county in Pinedale.

At the conclusion of regular business, Director Kathy Sechrist presented the board with her letter of resignation effective April 15, stating that she had accepted another position and thanking the board for the opportunity to serve over the past year.

Godfrey accepted the resignation with regret.
