PDR review board members sought

by Cat Urbigkit

Sue Ziegler spoke with the Sublette County Commissioners Tuesday about the pilot purchase of development rights program the county has decided to undertake.

Ziegler explained that although she had asked for minutes of the PDR group meetings from earlier this year, but was told that no minutes were kept. Ziegler requested that from now on, minutes be kept since the county allocated money for clerical help for the program.

Commissioner Betty Fear said while $5,000 was allocated, PDR working group clerk Penny Chrisman "is not going to take that money. She has volunteered her services."

Commissioner Gordon Johnston said that the PDR group no longer exists, and that the next step will be for the county to advertise for a county coordinator and county PDR review board members.

Later in the day, the commission agreed to begin advertising for the PDR review board members. Applications should be turned in to the county clerk's office.

Fear said the board needs to have diversity, both geographically within the county and in their backgrounds.

"We'll have to take the applicants and do that ourselves," Johnston said.

Johnston said the PDR working group had recommended the review board consist of people representing the interests of agriculture, business and conservation.

The commission agreed to make the appointments to the review board at its second meeting in June, scheduled for June 17.
