BLM plans on-site review of Shell well

The Bureau of Land management is inviting the public to attend an on-site review of the proposed pad site and access road submitted by Shell Rocky Mountain Production, LLC.

Shell has submitted a Notice of Staking to drill a gas well approximately 1.2 miles northeast of Stewart Point and two miles southwest of Pinedale.

The proposed well pad and access road would be located the Sensitive Viewshed Management Area (MA-4) identified in the Pinedale Anticline Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision for the Pinedale Anticline Oil and Gas Project. The Anticline EIS allows up to 28 well pads to be developed within the "Viewshed." The North Pinedale 14-8 well pad would be the seventh. Consistent with the objectives for Management Area 4, Shell would drill up to four gas wells from this pad.

According to the Pinedale Anticline Record of Decision, proposals occurring within the Sensitive Viewshed require additional public review.

The public is invited to attend the on-site review of the proposed North Pinedale 14-8 well pad and access road on Thursday, May 1. A tour will leave the Pinedale BLM Office at 10 a.m. Participants will be required to provide their own transportation.
