Fredia Audeen Lee
Fredia Audeen Lee was born in Ohio on July 2, 1922, to Ross and Lizzie Gilbert. The family moved to Billings, Mont., when Fredia was about three years old. Her father was offered a job at Mountain Fuel in Green River, and Fredia lived there until graduating from Lincoln High School in 1940.
She married Harold Lee in 1944, and six children were born to this union: Linda, Judy, Philip and Robert (Bubba). Another daughter and son, Kathy and Jim, were adopted and lovingly raised by Fredia's brother Bud Gilbert and his wife Genevieve.
The Lees moved to Pinedale, where Harold died in 1976. Fredia kept very busy waiting tables and cooking in many of Pinedale's restaurants. Her last cooking job was at the Hi Country Senior Center, helping her sister Bettyjean Hulen.
Fredia loved going to California every year; Disneyland and Sea World were two of her favorite places. In 1988, she and her daughter, Judy, took a Greyhound bus trip to Texas to visit Fredia's daughter, Linda, and her family.
Fredia was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Fredia lived in Pinedale 50 years. She and several friends enjoyed getting together to play poker, which led her to her love of playing poker slots in Wendover, Mesquite and Las Vegas.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son, Philip; three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughter, Linda, and husband John Pape, daughter, Judy, and husband Bob Walker, and a son, Bob (Bubba) Lee.
Memorials may be made to the Sublette Center; cards may be mailed to Judy Walker, 6589 Grant St., Chino, Calif., 91710.
Fredia was a resident of the Sublette Center for nearly five years. A memorial service will be held in Pinedale in the summer of 2004. Fredia was a kind, loving person who will be missed by her family and many friends.
