Tourism board moves to fill director slot

by Bill Boender

The Sublette County Joint Tourism Promotion Board held a special meeting Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Pinedale Library and again reversed course. A motion was presented and passed to hire Cutting Edge Marketing to perform the duties of director for the board.

Chairperson Glenna Johnson and Board Member Jennifer Ball were authorized to negotiate a contract to begin on Nov. 21 at an annual cost of $40,000 plus expenses, subject to final approval of the full board.

The change of direction was taken because several members felt that a verbal commitment had been made to Cutting Edge Marketing and they had no choice but to honor it, this being the third time they have been led to believe the job is theirs.

No mention was made of any efforts to involve the Pinedale Chamber of Commerce. A declaration by John Godfrey was presented to the board but was not read as Johnson felt it should be considered at the next regular meeting.

The next meeting is scheduled for Pinedale Library on Dec. 11, when grant requests will be heard. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
