Tourism board director position on hold

by Bill Boender

The regular meeting of the Sublette County Joint Tourism Promotion Board that began Nov. 6 was continued on Nov. 13 at the Big Piney Library. The purpose of the extended meeting was to allow time to review the application of Cutting Edge Marketing for the position of director for the board.

The meeting resumed with the addition of John Godfrey as the newly appointed member representing the Town of Pinedale, replacing Alan Huston. After much discussion of contract terms, results of checking references and the experience level of the applicants, Godfrey and Leanne Rellstab suggested the board not jump into a contract just because the applicants were ready to accept another offer.

The general agreement to wait centered on the need to make some arrangement with the Pinedale Chamber of Commerce to avoid costly and unnecessary duplication of services.

Chairperson Glenna Johnson directed Godfrey to approach the chamber to see what accommodations might be reached.

To assist with coverage of inquiries and correspondence until someone is hired, Alan Blackburn offered to handle these items as a volunteer.

All members of the board seemed to agree to put past differences aside and work together to achieve the goals for which the board was established. The next meeting was set for Dec. 11 at the Pinedale Library.
