Five M month continues at museum

Following what Museum of the Mountain Man Executive Director Laurie Hartwig called a ‘great’ response to the museum’s membership drive so far, Five M Month continues – Five M meaning Membership Month at the Museum of the Mountain Man.

To complement the ad and information campaign in the county’s newspapers, the museum is planning to do a bulk mailing within Sublette County of a card with membership information and a cut-out magnet boasting Charlie Golden Jr.’s mountain-man face. It also states a bit of trivia about the Sublette County Historical Society being "the first and oldest Society in Wyoming, established in 1936."

Hartwig said they decided to use the bulk mailing with the cut-out magnet "to try to get members ... so people don’t just toss it (the mailing) in the garbage. She said the mailing will be in the post office this week.

With paid membership to the society, you get a bi-annual newsletter, free admission to the museum, 10 percent discount in the museum gift shop and guest passes," in all membership categories.

Hartwig said she "wants an open door policy … A lot of people say ‘I didn’t know I could be a member,’ a gift she says you give yourself.

If you would don’t receive one of the magnets and would like to become a member or have any questions or concerns, call the museum at 367-4101.
