Ziegler challenges Ruland for sheriff

Alan Ziegler of Pinedale submitted a petition to Sublette County Clerk Mary Lankford Monday with enough signatures to earn him a spot on the general election ballot as an independent candidate for sheriff.

Incumbent Republican sheriff Hank Ruland was unchallenged in the primary election, but will now face Ziegler for the four-year term.

Five file for two Piney school board seats

Five candidates have filed for two available seats on the board of trustees of Sublette County School District No. 9. Incumbent Bill Krieger filed for re-election. Other candidates include Jay Anderson, Nancy Espenscheid, Rob Stone and Dr. Darcy Turner. Incumbent trustee Dr. David Burnett recently resigned from the board, so his replacement will be one of the two trustees selected in the November election.

Three seats on Pinedale school board

November general election ballots will have several seats available on the board of trustees of Sublette County School District No. 1, including one Pinedale seat that incumbent Ann Fear has filed for. There are also two at-large seats available, with four candidates vying for these slots: Ken Marincic, Lenny Campbell, Jenna Meyer and Lynn Grassell.

Conservation District seats available

Two seats on the board of the Sublette County Conservation District are up for election in November. Darrell Walker is seeking election to the rural seat, while no candidates have filed for the available urban seat. Sublette County Clerk Mary Lankford said this seat could be filled through a write-in campaign.
