Primary election next week

Sublette County Clerk and elections officer Mary Lankford encourages all eligible voters to cast their ballots in the Aug. 20 primary election. Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and voters may register at the polls. Since some precinct boundaries have changed, anyone confused about where to vote are encouraged to call the county clerk's office at 307-367-4372 for more information. For those who won't be home on primary election day, Lankford also issued a reminder that absentee ballots are available in her office and can be cast until 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19.

General election deadline

Lankford said the filing period for candidates wanting to file for special district seats is closes at 5 p.m. Aug. 26.

Two seats on the Sublette County Conservation District Board of Supervisors, one rural and one urban, will appear on the general election ballot on Nov. 3.

There will also be three seats available on the board of the Upper Green River Cemetery District and three seats on the Big Piney Cemetery District. All are four-year terms.

In addition, school board seats in both of the county's school district are available. Sublette County School District No. 1 will have four seats available, while District No. 9 will have two seats up.
